How To Buy?

how to get your batik from us in detail

Batik Tulis is a traditional art form in Indonesia that involves applying wax and dye onto fabric by hand to create intricate patterns.

At Krishma Batiktulis, we meticulously craft all our products using a tool called canting and hands to ensure that each piece is unique and represents the rich cultural heritage of batik. Our commitment to authenticity leads us to offer two fabric dyeing options.

The first one is the use of natural dyes extracted from leaves, which showcases the vibrant colors found in nature. For example, indigo leaves can produce a beautiful blue hue. In addition, we also provide textile dyes for those who prefer a wider range of colors. Our dedication to preserving the traditional craftsmanship of batik sets us apart, making every piece from Krishma Batiktulis a true work of art.

Our artisans invest up to three months to breathe life into each creation, ensuring that it transcends from a mere piece of fabric to a masterpiece that narrates a story of patience, passion, and cultural significance. In a world of mass production, our commitment to the authenticity and uniqueness of Batik Tulis sets us apart, making each piece a labor of love and a celebration of the rich heritage embedded in every stroke.

Getting to Know the Natural Coloring Technique of Batik

For many years, it has been a tradition to use natural dyes in the process of making batik

Rooted in a rich tradition, the use of natural dyes in the batik-making process has been a longstanding practice. Delving into the art of natural color batik, this method involves extracting dyes from various plants, including roots, bark, wood, leaves, flowers, or fruits—a practice that thrived before the advent of synthetic dyes, marking a shift in the traditional approach

Exploring natural color batik, which utilizes dyes extracted from plants, such as roots, bark, wood, leaves, flowers, or fruits. This traditional method was predominant before the introduction of synthetic dyes, which eventually led to a decline in the use of natural dyes.

Since 1996, Western countries like Germany and the Netherlands have banned synthetic dyes due to environmental concerns. Consequently, there has been a resurgence of interest in natural color batik, praised for its eco-friendly qualities. Unlike synthetic counterparts, natural dyes decompose in the soil, offering an environmentally conscious alternative.

Examples of natural ingredients used for coloring batik include roots, wood bark, leaves, flowers, and fruits. For instance, certain roots produce brown or reddish-brown hues, while specific types of wood bark may yield various colors such as brown, red, or blue. Leaves, flowers, and fruits from different plants contribute to a spectrum of colors, creating a unique and environmentally friendly palette for natural color batik.
